The classic fairy tales were recreated in the series "Tell me a Story" through obscure interpretations with touches of suspense and terror, which go far way from the stories that permeate our collective imagination. Our challenge was to unite the characters and symbols of these universes to the tension of the narrative reinterpreted in dark nuances.

Once upon a time... "Tell me a Story" is a series produced and broadcasted by Amazon Prime Video which recreates the stories of classic tales in a way never seen before. The illustrations created a suspense tension and a lot of curiosity on the lads' timeline and addressed the incredible universes of some universal classics, such as "Little Red Riding Hood", "The 3 Little Pigs" and "Hansel and Gretel".

To achieve this result, the illustrations explores the contrast between lights and shadow, representing the dichotomy between good and evil, so explored in children's tales. In addition, the digital painting technique that resembles brushstrokes on a painting gives an extra dose of drama and life to the characters, reinforcing their expressions and amplifying the psychological tension both of them and of the viewers.

The first season, released in 2018, intertwined the universes of "Hansel and Gretel", "The 3 Little Pigs" and "Little Red Riding Hood" in a plot that has New York as its scenario. In this psychological thriller, the characters are faced with the situations of loss, greed, revenge and murder. "The 3 Little Pigs" are reimagined as investigators who find themselves in the path of a husband - symbolizing the wolf - who is looking for the murderer of his wife. "Little Red Riding Hood" is a student who has to deal with grief over her mother's death while becoming the object of her professor's desire. Finally, "João and Maria" are distant brothers who, due to extreme situations, end up getting closer.

The second season recreates the tales of "The Sleeping Beauty", The Beauty and The Beast" and "Cinderella" in conceptions that goes far away from the classic Disney movies. On "The Beauty and The Beast", the Beast is represented by a pop singer who gets involved in an accident that leaves several burns on her body. On "Cinderella", the murderer of the main character's dad raises the suspicious of the heroin, who believes that her stepmother and the two half brothers are behind it. "The Sleeping Beauty" reinterpretation is one of the most intriging: a women's kidnapper takes the rol of both the princess and the vilain Maleficent and traces a tense phicological profile of him around the lost of his twin sister.
